While presenting to the audience of 250 at the debut of our new Ottawa Cloud Technology Center of Excellence (COE), I had the pleasure of addressing a community of customers, partners, developers and most importantly our employees about the significance of our 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art innovation hub on Palladium Drive.
The launch of our COE in the Kanata North Tech BIA is momentous in many ways. In one sense, it is a testament to the community of Ottawa-based engineers who in decades past have had great influence in producing the science behind our Real-Time Communications that powers Kandy. In another, it is very much about the future of the industry and Kandy’s role in abstracting the complexity of the Carrier Service Provider (CSP) network, and harvesting that carrier grade, high quality RTC communications for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), Enterprises and app developers around the world. These efforts, of course, will rest on the shoulders of our employees around the world including engineers in Tel Aviv, Israel, Holmdel, New Jersey, Istanbul, Turkey and our new hires from Ottawa-area Colleges and Universities. I’m confident that their knowledge and energy will enhance our momentum as we continue to leverage and pursue local partnerships and synergies and grow our footprint in Canada.
The KandyMobile RV, our state-of-the-art tour bus equipped with Kandy Communications-Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) demonstrations, was on site as well. This was a special opportunity for customers, partners and employees to experience the platform and to give our customers a chance to experiment with Kandy’s platform and prototype their ideas with embedded RTC communications. Our winners: Kandy Shop, Real Kandy and Kandy Nurse were given prizes for their outstanding work in this “Ideathon”.
We had a number of special guests at the event including Mayor Jim Watson, who I had the opportunity to accompany on a trade delegation to India earlier this year along with 40 representatives from local tech companies and other industries. His endorsement and confidence in Kandy’s potential to have a positive impact on the greater Ottawa community is galvanizing and a call to action! We were also joined by Blair Patacairk, Managing Director at Invest Ottawa, Paul Ensing, our Senior Vice President of R&D, Bita Milanian, our Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Dave Shier, Senior Vice President of Sales for Canada.
It’s hard to believe that Kandy was launched less than 2 years ago. We’ve already had the opportunity to contribute to work with some of the world’s leading brands and contribute to groundbreaking projects. We are excited about the future and ready to ‘Make Apps More Human.’
